Utilizing the abundant talent in the New York metro area, live performances featuring original musical works will be performed in the coming months. Below is a small sample of original music composed and produced by yours truly. Some of the material will be a part of the live performances.
The musical style can best be described a eclectic: a blend of rock, jazz, pop, folk and classical. The subject matter of each song focuses on the socioeconomic, political, and social issues of the day. A good example of both the style and topic of my work is the song "All The Same" (second song below).
"All The Same" is a song about the damage done to workers via various financial and business schemes designed to benefit owners and investors of businesses at the expense of their workers. It is a classic example of capital (money) winning out over labor (people). The musical style of the song blends rock with jazz and a little New Orleans-style solo segment for the horns. Some of the talent you will hear in the following songs include drummer and composer Dan Pugach, jazz trumpeter Wayne Tucker and feature the vocals of Regina Bass and Alejandro Salvia.
The songs listed are in what I call "stage 2" of a 3 stage process (see below for descriptions) and represent a portion of the work composed and produced. "Cross The Line" "All The Same "Hidden Treasure" "The Dreams We Hold Onto" "Shoot The Moon" "Until Its Time" "To Love" "Look Away" Note: Stage 1 - musical idea with its basic structure. Stage 2 - recorded version with vocals, lyrics, and expanded orchestration. Stage 2 songs have any number of imperfections, but do convey the concept and content of the musical idea. Such imperfections will be resolved in a Stage 3 recording. Stage 3 - final recording with full orchestration. All songs © Vincent Catalano 2015 To contact me via email, click here |
